take pride in your work.

excerpt from theHollywoodReporter on the happenings of last night's annie awards (awards for the animation industry voted on by the animation industry):

"Kung Fu Panda" pulled out all its martial arts moves Friday night at the 36th annual Annie Awards, where it was named best animated feature.

The DreamWorks Animation feature dominated the awards ceremony, held at UCLA's Royce Hall in Westwood and presented by ASIFA-Hollywood, the Los Angeles chapter of the International Animated Film Society.

Winning the top prize over such other nominees as the critical favorites "WALL-E" and "Waltz With Bashir," "Panda" swept the feature film categories as it picked up 10 trophies, bettering Pixar's "Ratatouille" run last year when it earned nine Annies, including best feature.

Additionally, DWA's "Secrets of the Furious Five," a 24-minute short that appears on the "Panda" DVD -- took four awards in the TV production/shortform categories, and Activision's "Kung Fu Panda" game won the award for best video game.

yeaaa dreamworks!! i'm so proud. it's good to know despite all the (in my opinion) unfounded praise for wall-e from the critics, the industry itself took more pride in KFP. like i've said before the first 40 minutes of wall-e are pure genius, but it goes downhill from there and as a whole just isn't near as good/strong as other animated movies this year like kung fu panda and bolt.

sweet sweet sweat.

"what is that!?!?" you might ask. well, it's the palm pré. and oh my goodness, i want it. its perfect - better than the iphone because it has a fully qwerty keyboard AND its on sprint meaning i won't have to pay the ridiculous monthly fees. yayyyyyy, i can't wait til it comes out.

went to my second bikram yoga class today. it was much better this time since i've been drinking lots of water the past couple days. i sweat more in the first 15 minutes than i did the whole session last time, which explains the vision blacking out and basic inability to do anything - no water in my body means no sweat, which means at 105degrees/40%humidity my body had no way of cooling down and thus tries to shut down. but all is good now. and while i couldn't make it through the entire class without sitting out a set or two, it felt really good to be in there. then again, i am kind of a masochist.

ALSO, manza gave me a baseball signed by chad billingsley! yay, now i have two dodger-signed baseballs (the first is signed by hong chih kuo).

saturday - move into new apartment!!! i'm freeeeee! brasa brasil (brazilian bbq) for dinner.

sunday - hair cut! yes, i took the plunge and got... BANGS! i don't know what i think about them yet.... peas come out to check out the new place. dinner at new little japanese restaurant bimi.

monday - work holiday! brunch at BLD with eli. my first bikhram yoga class. boy was it tough. i sat through most of it since my vision started blacking out, hands went numb and legs turned to water.. but i kind of can't wait to go again. my body temperature hasn't gotten that high and i haven't had that much blood flow in almost a year.. it's kind of sad.

Q: what do you get when you cross an apple and a banana?
A: apple banana sine theta!

sleepy athletic wicked tacos.

taiwanese milk in regula, chocolate and fruit flavors.

purchased my new mattress today. and went to town at lululemon athletics (my sis-in-law got me a gift card there, so it was the perfect place to stock up on some stuff for yoga).

we went to watch WICKED tonight at the pantages theatre. i've seen it once before a couple years back but it was even better tonight! i'm sure part of it was due to the fact that it's the closing weekend for the show in LA and the performers were going to town with their performances. heh.

afterwards, we finally decided to go find KOGI, the korean bbq taco truck. they are parked by the brig on abbot kinney on weekends. i had two short rib tacos and dan got the short rib burrito. they were awesome. in fact, i would have to say i've found my new favorite taco EVER. for the past few years, my favorite has been the fish tacos at cafe976 in san diego, but tonight's was just so tasty and perfect. mm, mm! i can't wait to go back.

the search for liberty.

moose!

so, somehow, i am still sick. blech.

anyway, new year's eve was nice and low key. dan and i headed over to allen and jisun's with a bottle of champagne. we played with baby owen for a bit, played rock band, ate pizza and watched the ball drop in NYC on TV.

saturday we decided to see how many of these we could find around the city. we found nine. here is my photodocumentation of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniferjpan/sets/72157612200549512/. we also took a little break by the la brea tar pits and LACMA.

also, tried a new thai place this weekend in santa monica: bangkok west. the menu is quite strange tho - it even has some malaysian, vietnamese and japanese items. i can't speak to its authenticity, but if you're looking for something tasty, i'd definitely recommend it.

AND, we saw both The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Slumdog Millionaire. both are AWESOME.
