chicago happenings.

monday and tuesday were spent in theodore's apartment writing a paper or working on my resume and, of course, catching up on sleep. wednesday afternoon i decided to go to chicago's natural history museum, the field museum. spent several hours in there and loved it. i'm not sure why but i've always loved natural history museums, even if i find them slightly creepy and being in them often gives me goosebumps.

thursday i went downtown and had lunch with theodore at wow bao, then i proceeded to a movie theatre to watch juno, which was absolutely fantastic and so quirky and laughable. it makes me wonder though, what michael cera is like in real life because he is just so damn good at playing the infinitely awkward but still lovable teenage boy (eg, arrested development and superbad).

afterwards, to kill even more time, i stuck around the theatre and watched alvin and the chipmunks. terrible terrible idea. i mean, the movie is good for kids under ten, and there were plenty of those in the theatre (my favorite part, when the chipmunks watch TV and spongebob comes on, the whole frickin' theatre of little kiddes started singing the theme song along with the movie.. another personal solid point for the movie, matthew gray gubler, who plays dr. spender reid on criminal minds, and whom i find absolutely dreamy in that nerdy, skinny, socially awkward way, voiced simon the chipmunk.

on a side note. theodore and my joint christmas present for his parents are coasters for their bar. but not just any coasters. i redesigned this neon light that they really want to say "slowik style" instead of "old style" and he laser cut them into bass wood and mounted some thin cork on the bottom. they look really good, albeit kind of cheesy, but hopefully they like them.
