dinah's chicken is freaking awesome.

we went to dinah's chicken on sort of a whim late one night when i was too lazy to cook. we'd driven past it many, many times and were always curious, but really didn't know anything about it. we are so glad we did, because the food is amazing there. very much southern comfort food. in fact, the only thing they didn't have that would have made james basically cry with happiness was sweet tea.

we each got the three piece chicken dinner, which came with two sides and a roll. we both got mac'n'cheese for one, and stuffing (or "dressing", as james calls it) and the pineapple cole slaw. the stuffing was probably some of the best i ever had. it's actually surprising how good it is. the fried chicken is awesome. even the breast meat, which i absolutely hate in basically every instance, even fried, was juicy and delicious! we also got a plate of split fried chicken gizzards and livers. i'm a huge fan of fried chicken livers, and these were delicious, but not so much the fried gizzards. i mean, i love gizzards, but part of what i love is the chew-y texture of them, and these were just melt-in-your-mouth soft. which isn't a bad thing, just not my preference.

on top of all that, the place has a very sweet, family-owned retro diner feel. this is totally a great find, can't wait to go back!
