i've been eating dim sum ever since i was a kid, and i go to
sea harbour in rosemead all the time (only a relatively recent discovery though) - it's definitely my current favorite place to go in LA. i figured i don't have to only post about new places i go, but that some of my regular haunts would be worth documenting too.

the nice thing about sea harbour, though a lot of other places are doing it now too, is that they don't walk around with carts of food for you to pick from - and who knows how long that stuff has been there. or if you'll even get the lady with the cart that you want to stop by. they have a numbered photo menu with both english and chinese, and a little sheet of paper that you mark off what you want. then it just slowly starts arriving.

there is always a huge wait at this place, so i tend to go after 1.30 or 2p. the kitchen is only open until 2.30, and most people are done by then, so it'll be a much shorter wait, but the food is slower to come out i think. doesn't really matter though because i love it. also, it is more expensive than most dim sum places, but i think they make up for it in the quality of the food. keep in mind though that the eight dishes in this post only ran us about $35, so compared to most western small-plate cuisine out there, this is still a steal. especially for los angeles.

definitely worth a visit if you like dim sum and are willing to drive out to the san gabriel valley for it.
