global fare @ pomelo SF.

whew! we are back from another whirlwind mini weekend vacation - this time to sonoma. unlike past vacation posts, i'll be breaking this one up into much smaller posts. this first one is for a brunch spot in noe valley, san francisco. after we landed at SFO, we met up with our friends jon and jason, and headed to pomelo.

james had the motul or huevos motuleños (fried eggs, handmade corn tortillas, puréed black beans, niman ham, green pigeon peas, potatoes, fried plantain, queso fresco and spicy tomato sauce) and i had the ulsan or pa-jeon (korean scallion pancakes with scallops, prawns, red and green chiles, egg and spicy dipping sauce). james is a big fan of huevos rancheros, and loved the motulenos. for me, the ulsan was great - especially with the spicy dipping sauce. very simple, comforting food. especially paired with a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice mimosa!

afterwards, before we took off for sonoma, jon showed us a bit around noe valley. it was an absolutely gorgeous day in such a gorgeous city.

many more posts to come!
