ink.sack one year later.

someone suggested ink.sack for lunch one day, particularly their one year anniversary, and i jumped on the chance to go! especially since everyone who ordered a sandwich that day got a free cold fried chicken sandwich. despite having to drive all the way to west hollywood, we made really good time, and mr. voltaggio himself was actually serving (you can see him above on the right).

three of us went, and we ordered all fo their "snack" items to share: crab chips, barbeque pork rinds, pineapple with chili and lemon, watermelon with sriracha, the mexican chocolate chip cookie and the oreo cookie cookie. despite how good the sandwiches were, i think my favorite thing was actually the fruit! fruit with a hint of spice is really ridiculously good - who knew?

and then we all ordered two sandwiches, which meant we each had three with the free cold fried chicken one. my two were the banh mi and beef tongue reuben.

the banh mi, amazingly delicious and crunchy and spicy and sweet.

the short rib pastrami:

the spicy tuna:

the cold fried chicken, which was seriously awesome. japanese katsu-style.

the beef tongue reuben, very nice touch with the corned beef tongue for that extra complexity of flavor:

it was all really delicious! very glad i finally got to try it, even if it was a whole year later.
