little kai at the travel town museum.

our coworker and friend, david, and his wife recently had a baby boy and named him kai. she's taiwanese, so they were celebrating his one month birthday (or full-moon celebration). you can read more about it here, but this is a snippet:
According to Chinese customs, when a baby turns one month old, a ceremony is held to celebrate her first full moon (mun yuet). This also coincides with the end of the mother's confinement period, and both mother and baby are formally introduced for the first time.
anyway, they rented out a train car at the travel town musuem and it was very, very cute, as was little kai - though, he was sleeping for most of it. so tiny and sleepy!

not sure where they got the cake, but it was chocolate and banana. i don't usually like birthday cakes, but this ones was really quite tasty. afterwards, we wandered around and checked out the other trains and rail information and displays at the museum. it's funny how it's just tucked away next to the 134. it's not that big of a place, but it's always fun to look at old trains; they even have a mini train that goes around the property that people can ride on (which we didn't). it was a nice, lazy sunday afternoon.
