the new dodgers and four pregnant women.

i've wanted to do a group outing to a dodger game for awhile now, and a couple months ago settled on a saturday night game against the marlins and started inviting people. somehow, someway, it ended up be me and james, jack and suzy, justin and sarah, katie, and david and leah. and guess what - all of the women are pregnant. so yea, i went to a baseball game with four pregnant women. it was weird. but kind of amazing.

justin and sarah were nice enough to drive us, so we directed them to our pre-game tradition of king torta for dinner. they thought it was super shady, but afterwards admitted the food was amazing and they should have gotten more. the game itself was great! the dodgers had just finalized the red sox deal and it was adrian gonzalez's first game as a dodger. and he hit a three-run homer in his first at bat. quite, quite memorable.

and the kids! there was a boys birthday party happening in front of us and the mom was on top of her game. every inning or two, she'd hand out some new fun thing to all the boys. early on they all got these sweet blue stick-on mustaches. later they got a baseball, baseball cards, snacks, etc, etc. all the mommies-to-be around me were taking notes, obviously.

then, there was an adorable little boy who sat next to us. in his dodgers jersey and hat he was too cute for words!

also, a very interesting article about the recent dodgers moves, definitely worth reading. and excerpt:

Maybe one day all of the Dodgers' current bravado will turn to remorse.

But that day is not today. The Dodgers are now officially the National League's answer to the Yankees, only more willing to accept smaller profit margins and thumb their noses at artificial spending limits. Baseball's new financial superpower is reckless. And maybe a lot smarter than we'd like to admit.
