awesome kushiyaki @ honda-ya.

kimiko and i went out to have dinner a few weeks ago and she took me to this awesome izakaya in little tokyo i had never been to. i've been craving it since, so i convinced james to go with me the other night. we essentially did all-skewers. it was amazing!

pork belly.

squid legs

chicken gizzard.

chicken leg meat.

chicken heart (below) and beef tongue (above).

chicken liver.

fatty pork (which i believe is neck or jowl).

lamb chop.

bacon-wrapped white chicken.
we also each ordered a yaki-onigiri. james got the okaka (left) and i had the mentai (right).

and finally, some interior shots so you can see how kitsch-y it is. but i love it. the yaki-tori and other kushiyaki (skewer-grilled) is just fresh and awesome.

and of course, a trip to little tokyo wouldn't be complete without walking to mikawaya to get some red bean mochi ice cream!
